First shoot graded rushes

Here are the graded rushes of the fist shoot we did on Thursday 31st October. Four of our scenes are set inside the school. In order to shoot these we needed the school to be mostly empty. To achieve this we decided to shhot during the half term holidays when there woul dbe no distractions from others using the school during a normal school day and we could also used the actors we planned to. However this in itself creates difficulties as it will not appear realistic if the school looks empty so we required extras. Extras were difficult to come by as with it being half term many were on holiday, however we did manage to recruit a group of volunteers from the local stage school Valley academy
that both myself and Emma Taylor have good connections with.

Over all the first shoot went really well, all the planned shots were completed and there were no significant problems with the sound or footage. The day was however made more difficult by the fact that one of our team member's, Saqib didn't turn up to the shoot on the day. As we were given no indication beforehand that he wasn't going to be there we were not able to prepare anything before hand to compensate for his absence. We had to take on his responsibilities as well as our own such as looking after the actors and taking care of health and safety regulations. We also had less people to set up the equipment so it took longer to set everything up and get started delaying the shoot.

Here are a selection of photos from behind the scenes of the first shoot.

The camera was set on the same settings for every shot as we had a constant light source provided by the while LED light panel film light. All the filming was done on Emma's canon 6D with a full frame lens. The shutter speed at 320 the aperture at 2.8 and the ISO at 1250, which worked really well in the conditions we were working in.

Post shoot

Emma immediately created the initial grade rushes of the first shoot which allowed us to have an over all vision of what the final product will look like. The clip was then shared on the groups Facebook page.
