Music for our trailer

Emma Taylor and I spent an afternoon searching the web for Royalty free music that we could use on our trailer which didn't flout any copywrite regulations. The individual who created the music is the owner of it and can give other people permission to use it, like on adverts for example, however if the person given this permission is found to have flouted the regulations that come with the permission to use the music they can recive a heavy fine and a shot prison sentence. It is important to recognise another person's creative work and respect their song.

Keeping this in mind we wanted some royalty free music to feature in our trailer. Emma took the reponsibility of signing the licence agreement to state it's intended purpose and to the company's terms and conditions.

We are aware the trailers use more than one piece of music in their finished products, so we also contacted some bands to see if any of the would give us permission to feature some of their music in the trailer. We were very pleased with the responce we recieved, they gave us the permission and also were keen to see the trailer when completed.

Explosions

From conducting our research into the conventions of film trailers, we noticed that they all include an array of shots from different scenes in the feature film. In order to make our trailer as true to a genuine film trailer as possible Emma has contacted some people she has worked with previously who will be able to give our trailer the edge it needs to stand out. We hope to include a series of explosions, a helicopter and some fire engines in our trailer to create the atmosphere of a real action packed thriller. as ordinarily these would be fairly expensive to hire we are able use these resources for free in return for making promotional films for the companies.

Fire engines

Emma has been a regular visitor to the local fire station as she helps out with the local beavers group. By visiting she found out that the firemen and women were very eager to help the community as much as possible. With this in mind Emma decided to ask if they would possibly consider taking one of the fire engines out one day to feature in our trailer. Including full siren's and lights to make it appear as true t real life as possible. They said they were quite happy to do this which will be a great benefit to us as it will really give our trailer the edge we are looking for later on in the trailer.

Helicopters

Our lead character Grace is kidnapped by the government. Emma said that she already had an offer from a heli-school to film there. This presented a perfect opportunity for us as we decided we could use this filming opportunity to film some scenes actually inside the helicopter during flight as government agencies would most likely use helicopters such as this we thought it would make the trailer even more true to life if we were able to actually film it in a real helicopter.
The location for this shoot will be Barton air school.

Explosions

Having a scout on our production team has proved a huge benefit as she has been able to put us in contact with many professionals that we would not otherwise be able to make connections with. One of these is a professional in armories including canons and rifles. The contact who holds the license for these (Ted Lewis) makes explosions for professional film companies and also does professional reenactments. On Monday the 24th November myself and Emma are going up to Ted's property to test out some of the explosives and plan out how they are going work out with the shots we have planned and also make sure all the health and safety regulations are met to make sure our actors and crew are completely safe.

Extra recruitment

As our trailer will feature scenes in school and also a house party scene we will need background artists. Rather than filming during school time and during an actual party when there will be many disturbances. We want to hire some background artists so we can be sure that they will act professionally and will not jeopardize the production.
We have advertised for extras by placing posters in various places around the sixth form, we are also recruiting extras from local theater school Valley academy which both me and Emma Taylor attend regularly so we have good connections with the actors there. We will have drinks and refreshments available on the day and are e-mailing out more information to those who express interest.
For the school scenes (4 in total) we have had to ask members of staff if they are available to be the 'adult' in charge and kindly our deputy head of year 'Miss Mohammed' has offered to do this for us.It will also be organized for caretakers to open up the school at the times we wish as were planning on filming during half term break.
We're hoping to recruit around 15-30 extras in total but if we do not achieve this number we can still manipulate the shots to make it appear as if there are more people there than actually there actually are, e.g. do more close ups and seeing more people walking behind, rather than extreme long shots where we can see that there actually aren't that many people.

Emma also posted in the Facebook group of a local theater school in an attempt to recruit extras.

A Facebook event was also created as a way of quickly inform actors, extras and the crew on what to wear and what to bring to the shoot etc...

Storyboard Animatic - Tom Bailey

One of my roles in the production of the Fallen Grace trailer was to create the animatic; I am hoping for a career in animation and have experience storyboarding. I also created the animatics for my foundation portfolio production of the opening of a thriller so I felt I was the best person to fill this particular role. The creation of the animatic was very time consuming, taking around a month to complete as I had 50 shots to draw and correctly label.

Fire station

As a group we discussed the possibility of adding extra features to the project that would give it the edge we were looking for. Emma was able to use some contacts she had with the local fire station this seemed a perfect opportunity to see if we could feature a fire engine in our trailer, this is what she did.
Written by Emma Taylor
After I went to a visit to the local Fire Station, I thought that if it would be possible to use the resources there for our trailer, it would make it look professional and connote danger and urgency; the very thing we need in the second half of our trailer with a fast editing pace. The local Fire Station are very community based, doing car washes, talks on fire safety and tours for local youth groups. When I mentioned the idea of possibly filming a few shots of the fire engine and some of their crumbled cars (used for their fire practices) they seemed both willing and excited the idea, and said to send a letter to organise a day. Here is a copy of the letter we have sent.

                                                                                                                       3 LoveClough View,
                                                                                                                        LoveClough,
                                                                                                                        Rossendale
                                                                                                                        BB4 8QJ

Dear Sir/Madam,
After having a very interesting tour of the Fire Station with Gary with the 38th Rossendale Beaver Scouts section on the 9th October, I spoke to him regarding filming for my A Level media course (studying at BRGS Sixth Form) at the Fire Station, which he said would be possible to do. It would be fantastic to have shots of the fire engine in our project!
I understand you are busy, and that if you have a call out, you would have to attend to the incident. If possible, could we possibly spare one hour for filming, I would be very grateful. Hopefully, we would be filming the engine outside of the station (in the carpark) recording the sound of the siren and getting images of the flashing lights, and possibly a fire fighter in uniform getting an axe out of the fire engine. It would be great if we could have other shots of those destroyed cars you have outside the station that you practice on.
If you could let me know what is possible to do on my mobile: 07749923033 or on my home phone: 01706 227933, I and my team would be grateful.
Our plan for our film to be marked for coursework is a feature film trailer, and we would of course give you credit on the project and a copy of the finished production.
Once again, I thank you for the fantastic talk and experience at your Fire Station, both the Beavers and all the leaders enjoyed themselves.  Yours faithfully,
Emma Taylor

Choice of Actors we would like to play the roles

By Emma Taylor

Grace - Hannah Murray

Hannah Murray is a Bristol born actress who started acting lessons at the age of 16. At this age, she auditioned for a role in the well known British TV series 'Skins' where she go the part and rose to fame.
With Hannah's fantastic acting experience in Game of Thrones, Skins, Clone amongst many more productions,  I believe that she would be a good choice of Actor for the character of Grace in our film. Not only does she fit the role in terms of look - blonde, thin (to connote innocence and vulnerability) we think she would do wonderfully to characterise Grace as main character, pulling off innocence, bravery, courage and strength at the same time.

Zara -Jacqueline Jossa

Jacqueline Jossa plays the role of Lauren in East Enders very well and we believe she would make a wonderful comedic character for Zara. Working in East Enders, Jacqueline has learnt to have a sense of 'fight' attached to her character; exactly what we require from Zara - even though Zara, underneath all the brivado just wants to be loved and cared for.
Charlie - Craig Roberts

I think Craig Roberts would be a wonderful choice of actor for the character of Charlie. He has a lot of experience from a young age playing an delicate, outcast teenage boy. Hw fits the looks of the character perfectly and would be a great asset to the film.
